Legacy June Update
Hi Legacy families,
June was a wonderful kick off to summer, the month started off cool and then really started to heat up. As a team we worked hard to deliver the best experience for our residents and families as possible. Our residents created art, danced, sang, laughed, watched basketball, and enjoyed special visits throughout the month. Some activities were planned and others were spontaneous. We plan these activities with purpose because daily engagement supports the body, mind, and spirit.
Painting, Arts & Crafts
This month, our residents painted flags, decorated flower pots, and enjoyed hands-on craft time together.
Creative activities help residents use fine motor skills, make choices, focus their attention, and express themselves. Research continues to show that group-based arts and creative activities can support mental, social, and emotional well-being in older adults. Most importantly, these projects give residents a sense of pride when they see what they created.
Chill Time: Movie Nights, NBA Nights & Popcorn
We enjoyed movie nights, NBA nights, and popcorn together as a home.
These relaxed moments matter. Group activities help reduce isolation and create a sense of routine, comfort, and belonging. The CDC reports that about 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. experience loneliness, and about 1 in 4 do not feel they have enough social and emotional support. That is why simple shared moments — watching a game, enjoying popcorn, or laughing during a movie — can be so meaningful.
Indoor Exercise
We kept our residents moving with indoor exercises throughout the month.
Gentle movement supports balance, flexibility, circulation, strength, and confidence. The CDC recommends that adults 65 and older aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, along with activities that support strength and balance. We keep our exercise time safe, simple, and encouraging so residents can stay active in a way that fits their abilities.
Music & Singing
Music and singing brought energy, joy, and connection into the home this month.
Music can lift mood, spark memories, encourage participation, and bring residents together. Studies on music therapy and older adults show positive effects on emotions, social engagement, and overall well-being. We love seeing residents smile, sing along, clap, and connect through familiar songs.
Graham the Service Dog Visits
Graham the service dog brought comfort, smiles, and calm moments to our residents.
Animal visits can help reduce stress, encourage interaction, and bring a sense of companionship. For many residents, time with Graham creates an instant moment of joy, warmth, and connection.
Last, we continue to upgrade our homes to provide the best experience possible. We upgraded our air conditioner. We appreciate our families patience as the installation crew decided to install a new hole in the ceiling but we were able to repair it quickly.
Additionally, we have upgraded our sprinkler systems and invested in the landscaping and will continue to work to improve the back yards over the next few months.
Thank you for trusting us with the care of your loved ones. We are grateful for every opportunity to create a home filled with dignity, comfort, purpose, and meaningful daily connection.
With gratitude,
Legacy Senior Living
