July Activities at Legacy Senior Living
Fourth of July Celebration
Residents celebrated the Fourth of July with festive food and time spent socializing together. Celebrations like this provide more than a fun afternoon—they help residents stay connected to familiar traditions, encourage conversation, and create a sense of community within the home. Sharing a meal and celebrating together also gives residents something special to anticipate and enjoy.
Bingo
Bingo continues to be a resident favorite. In addition to being entertaining, bingo encourages concentration, number recognition, listening skills, and hand-eye coordination. It also provides an easy and enjoyable way for residents to socialize, laugh, and participate together.
Planting Our Resident-Made Pots
In June, residents decorated their own flowerpots. This month, they completed the project by planting flowers and plants in them. Gardening activities provide gentle movement, sensory stimulation, and an opportunity for residents to make choices and care for something living. Completing the project also gave residents a sense of accomplishment and allowed them to enjoy the pots they created.
Home Updates
Lawn, Landscaping, and Sprinkler Improvements
The landscaping and lawn have taken a significant hit from the extreme summer heat. We have been making updates to the sprinkler system and working hard to preserve as much of the lawn and landscaping as possible. Our goal is to protect what we have through the hottest part of the summer so we can enhance and refresh the outdoor areas again this fall.
Whole-Home Water Solution at 6916
We installed a whole-home water solution at 6916 designed to make the water more pleasant to use and easier on the home’s plumbing and equipment.
The system helps reduce chlorine taste and odor while also limiting mineral scale—the hard, buildup that can collect inside faucets, water heaters, and appliances. The practical benefits may include cleaner-feeling water and potentially less wear and maintenance on plumbing fixtures and equipment.
We had noticed mineral deposits forming on plumbing fixtures in some resident rooms, so we are testing this solution at 6916. We will monitor its performance over the next month and plan to install a similar system at 6900 if it works well.
